Tips on how to prepare for the sale:

1. Pop into the shop BEFORE the sale to pre-shop and pick your items! Then simply set your alarms & be the first at the door when the sale starts! This ensures the best chance of getting what you want on sale day!!

2. Always measure your space! Many of our sofas and area rugs are available in different sizes, and we want to make sure you are confident that you get one that fits just right. 

3. Take pictures of your space! We are happy to take a look at any photos you bring - the more you bring, the better we can help you!

4. Think about how you use your space! Which direction do you want to face, how many people do you want to seat comfortably, what type of materials would would best (casual, kid/pet friendly, glamorous, etc.)

5. Bring in those swatches! We have a ton of fabrics to choose from, and making sure the one you love will go well in your space is key. Do you have a pillow from an existing piece you want to coordinate with? Do you have a paint swatch you can bring in, a flooring sample, etc.  

6. Are there any obstacles in the space? Heating vents, south facing windows, floor outlets you want exposed? We can help you work around these, but if we don’t know about them we wont be able to guide you…

Last month in our Father’s Day email blast, we introduced you to Christina of House of Quail! Her handmade charcuterie and serving boards are absolute showstoppers at any gathering! Molly’s Tip: Freeze some oversized ice cubes a day or two before you head to your destination! Fill up a ziplock baggie and stash them in your cooler for a quick cooldown! They’ll keep your drinks cool all day long!

Shopping Local This Holiday Season! Brass + Oak Home

Can you believe it? November is already halfway over! It's been a great couple weeks here at the shop, we have everything looking festive and cozy, and we are loving seeing everyone as you start coming out for your holiday shopping! 

Speaking of which, we wanted to mention something that is very important to us as a small business, and that is shopping small & shopping local for the holiday season! Last year was something none of us expected, many of us spent our holidays away from our loved ones and friends, and it was tough! Things certainly aren't completely back to normal yet, but we are getting closer every day, and feeling so excited about a holiday season filled with gatherings & gift giving! 

One thing we know we'll be doing this year since we don't have to do all of our shopping online, is supporting other small businesses like our own. Main Street in Placerville is such a magical place this time of year! We have everything you need here for home decor, entertaining, and thoughtful gift shopping. Many of the shops here (including us!) feature local artists and handmade goods - so when you support us, you support them, and we think that's really important this time of year! 

If you haven't popped into the shop yet this month, you are missing out! We have so many great gift ideas, including a bunch of pre-made gift sets that are sure to wow this year! A lot of folks assume we're mostly just home decor & design, but we can assure you… we are so much more! Great News! The season of gathering & gift giving has begun here at Brass + Oak! The first week of November is a busy time at the shop. This week marks the true beginning of the holiday season around here, and it's really starting to show! The halls are decked, the stockings are hung, and we are ready to help you get your home ready for holiday entertaining!

We know a lot of you missed out this September, as the tickets sold so quickly, so here's your chance to join us for our last big event of the year!  Tickets go on sale TODAY, November 1st at 10:30am. so set your alarms! Quantities are limited, so don't wait! We'll be hosting with the same wonderful local women business owners as last time!!! During our last event, Molly of Molly Erin Designs & owner of Brass + Oak, put together a stunning Fall table-scape to kick off the entertaining season, this time around she will be demonstrating festive new ways to wrap gifts for everyone on your list! Melissa from Placerville Flowers on Main will be showing you how to put together a floral arrangement sure to add the perfect holiday touch to any gathering, Kerry from The Grazing Grouse will be demonstrating how to really step up your charcuterie game with a holiday themed board, the lovely ladies from Delfino Family Farms & Edio Vineyards will be helping you choose the perfect wine to serve (or gift!) at every gathering you attend this season, and the entire evening will be captured by the ever talented Tanya Gallagher, of Tanya Gallagher Photography.

Fall has finally arrived in El Dorado County - Who's ready to mix & mingle?

This year has certainly brought us some unexpected twists & turns, but around here we’re really getting back into the swing of things! October is an important month for small businesses like ours. We’ve been busy over here at Brass + Oak, getting the store ready for the holidays. It may seem early to some, but preparation is key for a fun and festive holiday season!

Last month, Brass + Oak hosted our first event since 2020. We waited a long time and took proper precautions, and we are happy to say that the event was a hit! Many familiar faces and new friends too, came out to support us & some of our favorite local small businesses. It was certainly a night to remember! Kerry from The Grazing Grouse demonstrated how to put together a crowd-pleasing charcuterie board, our shop owner & professional interior designer Molly Carter of Molly Erin Designs put together a festive fall table-scape perfect for holiday entertaining, all topped off with a beautiful flower arrangement demonstration by Mel of Placerville Flowers on Main, & amazing wines from Delfino Farms & EDIO Vineyards. The entire evening was captured beautifully by Tanya of Tanya Gallagher Photo! We hope to do more charcuterie events in the near future, & we’d love to see you there!

In the meantime, get excited for another fun event this month! Our Autumn After Hours event is Thursday October 21st, 5-8pm. We will be opening the store for extended hours, so everyone will get a chance to pop in and shop! We will be serving a festive cocktail (from one of our favorite cocktail books available here at Brass + Oak) while you shop late for all your fall essentials. Our shop owner Molly Carter of Molly Erin Designs will be doing a demonstration on how to style your bar cart for holiday entertaining!

It will be a fabulous night of sipping and shopping, but that’s not all! In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a portion of proceeds from the night of the event will go to our local nonprofit, Images of Hope. Images of Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing healing activities to anyone in El Dorado County impacted by cancer.

With the holiday season approaching it’s time to get prepared, and we have all your bar cart necessities here at Brass + Oak! Our high end full bar set, pictured above, has everything you need to get started. It’s full of beautiful brass accessories, including a mixing spoon, a strainer, a jigger, and also a hand-blown seeded mixing glass! Whether you’re looking to get started or give a gift to the bartender in your life, this set is perfect.

We also have a few different carafes that we know you’ll love! Our Seeded Rose Glass Carafe is gorgeous, and it’s made from 100% recycled glass! We also have matching glasses, and the the full set is so dreamy on a bar cart. It also comes in Deep Sage if Rose isn’t your style!

We can’t forget to mention our Tea Towels, pictured below, which come in an assortment of different phrases that are sure to make you giggle! All of these items and more work together seamlessly to create the perfect bar cart. The next step is putting it all together! BEST Sale Yet! And Meet the Brass + Oak Babes!

It’s about that time friends!! Our semi-annual floor sale is coming up next week on August 20th + 21st! We feel a little like a broken record but our sales just keep getting better and we are having so much fun getting everything together for our BEST sale yet!!

Our team of talented boss babes have been having a blast behind the scenes dreaming up fun discounts and details for the sale. Which reminded us that we haven’t properly introduced you to the team that keeps Brass + Oak fresh and fun and your favorite place to shop!!

Let’s start with our newest addition to the team, the lovely and sweet Ania (she says “like Tonya without the T.”) She’s such a great fit, it feels like she’s been here forever! Ania was born in Poland and lived in So Cal but is now loving our El Dorado County trees! She is a mom of three girls with a passion for fashion and design. Ania owns a sustainable vintage Instagram and Etsy shop and has a deep interest in classic literature and political science. She is an Army Veteran. We are loving her design eye and fun vintage fashions in the shop - she’s currently around Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays so pop in for some serious outfit goals!!

We asked Ania to pick her favorite item that will be available for our upcoming sale. Without hesitation, she took us to her absolute favorite piece on the floor - the gorgeous Rothco chair. This beauty has luxe and durable leather fabrication, beautiful details, and it swivels!! Functional, so stylish, and fun . . . if you love it like Ania does, do NOT hesitate. This chair is going to find a home quickly and so we encourage you to come on down to the shop prior to the sale with measurements and pictures of your space. Do you have the perfect throw pillow? Bring it down and make sure it works prior to the craziness of the sale.

You may recognize Marie from our social media stories and posts. She is our fantastic new shop manager and we are thanking our lucky stars for her! Marie also owns her own Etsy shop (loving the creativity from our team) where she sells her handmade macrame/fiber art. Marie loves bluegrass and southern gothic country music. She is big on camping and kayaking and loves shopping for vintage goods! Marie is fun, smart, and just so cool. Our customers have been loving her and we are enjoying the fun and happy vibe she’s brought to the shop!

Marie’s sale pick is a lot like Marie - fun, gorgeous, and fabulous - the Skylar accent chair! This floor sample is neutral and comfy but with absolutely luxurious gold legs. It’s truly a mix of California cool and sophisticate elegance. And even better? Meet Jamie! She’s the voice and photographer behind the scenes and takes care of the social media and marketing arenas for the shop. Jamie is a baseball and yoga-obsessed mom of 3 boys who loves the chance to share all the amazing things going on at Brass + Oak. Jamie and her family are San Diego transplants and who bought their dream A-frame in Camino in January. She loves hiking, paddle-boarding, reading, live music, cooking and WINE . . . you can see why El Dorado county has been a fantastic fit!

Jamie’s pick for the sale is a little different - she is all about those gorgeous rugs! She actually ordered an amazing custom rug from the January floor sale and now has her eye on a few of our one of a kind vintage rugs that are going to be discounted with the sale . . . and maybe a performance runner or two to keep those boys from sliding down the hallways during Camino snowstorms! She loves the unique details that come with the vintage area rugs and will be joining you all in line for the sale Friday morning!

And you all know and love her, she needs no introduction . . . Molly is the heart of Brass + Oak. Our ambitious boss babe and mama to be, Molly is a beloved local Interior Designer and the owner of B+O. Molly is a hometown girl - she grew up locally before spending many years living and working in California’s most energetic and inspiring cities - Los Angeles & San Francisco. She returned to Placerville bringing her concept of high design and an ultrachic aesthetic. Molly is married to Ben, owner of Placerville’s beloved Heyday Cafe and they have been getting all the parenting practice in with two cutest Boston Terriers - Hudson and Revere.

June is here . . . Father's Day Gifts!

Happy June - summer came in HOT this year! It’s been awesome to see your smiling faces on Main Street and we are so thrilled to see so many new businesses arriving and some of our favorites expanding and refreshing as we look forward to a fun summer in Placerville. We have a lot going on at Brass + Oak too that we are excited to share with you.

It’s time to talk Father’s Day! We all are so grateful for the awesome dads who have truly brought their a-game this year through the ups and downs of distance learning, cancelled plans, and extra time at home. We know you are too so let’s show them some love with a thoughtful gift he’ll get a ton of use out of.

We have incredible items to stock his bar - from bar tool sets and recipe books to actual barstools and a bar cart, we’ve got every single thing he could want! Ice molds are very popular for guys who like to drink scotch and bourbon. Carry on cocktail kits are cute for a plane trip but also useful for camping or tailgating. We have gorgeous new wine keys and bottle coasters for the wine-loving dad, make sure you pick up a local El Dorado County wine to go with. And whether he’s got one or not, we think a new gorgeous cocktail shaker is always useful if he’s a mixologist.

Our hand-made in Los Angeles line of games and trays are still getting so much love in the shop and they are disappearing quickly!! The husband and wife team behind these gorgeous items really get the young hip dad - who doesn’t love corn-hole, dominos, backgammon? These items are not only gorgeous, they are functional and sustainably made. The paint won’t fade in the sun on the corn-hole and the board games come in the cutest and most functional little boxes that are fantastic for camping, the pool, or sticking in his suitcase for any summer travel.

We just got in a large restock of denim aprons with some new styles available - nothing screams dad loves to bbq more than a dark denim apron with pockets for all his tools. But not only did we get three different styles of aprons (ladies do not miss out on the fantastic midi denim apron style,) but we also got the greatest little pot-holder ends perfect for cast iron camping or grill pans. Our denim placemats look amazing on both indoor and outdoor tables BUT our absolute favorite item that just arrived are our new denim log carrying bags! These will be fantastic later this year when the temps go back down but for now, these are amazing for campfires or fire-pits in the backyard . . . we can smell the s’mores already!

Memorial Day - let's BBQ!

Can you believe summer is right around the corner?! School is winding down and the temps are going UP! We’ve loved chatting with you all popping by to pick up Teachers & Grad gifts. It’s clear we all have a very happy summer on the brain and we have some fantastic new finds in the shop to get it started out right!

Memorial Day is coming quickly - May 31st is right around the corner and there is nothing better to start the summer out right than a BBQ with friends. Get started planning by sprucing up your outdoor space - a new table runner, an outdoor rug, some bright and fun vases go a long way to make dining al fresco a more elegant and fun experience. Mother's Day 2021

If you are anything like us, you are feeling relieved, excited, and overwhelmed as we return to our new “normal.” Daily we start to reopen schools and sports, shopping and dining, and there are constant little signs that life is coming back at us. . . quickly! But also if you are like us, you are feeling a ton of gratitude for those who carried us through this last year; zooming and punting with each new change and keeping things as normal as possible so that families and businesses could keep up with the constant change and our families could continue to thrive. We love you moms!

It’s time to spoil her! Boy does she deserve it. We want to celebrate all she has carried you through this year, but also the fact that hosting and FUN that we’ve craved and waited forever for are now rapidly approaching. We may be biased but we think she is going to love this return to normal and the many ways you can love on her and celebrate all the things that we’ve been waiting for.

Here is two of our absolute favorite pieces: the Miles ottoman and Rothko swivel leather chair currently sitting in our retail window. The Rothko is one of our most popular swivel chairs and in this leather, she’s a stunner! You sit in this chair and instantly will not want to get up, its that cozy!

The miles ottoman is also a fan favorite. It comes in two sizes, this is the smaller version. We had in it leather that we absolutely loved, and since it went to it’s forever home, we knew we wanted to bring it back! This time we decided to pick a fun yet neutral plaid fabric for ya’ll to see.

FABRIC. I know it can be overwhelming when looking at fabrics, but we can help you narrow it down pretty quickly just by learning more about your lifestyle, whether you have kids, fur babies, husbands, or any other factors that play a major role in your life at home. Velvet, linen, cotton, suede… nearly 1000 sumptuous custom fabrics are at your fingertips. Whether your design style is modern, casual or transitional - we have a fabric for you! 

We can also order you free fabric swatches that you can take home and see how they would look like in your space and in your own lighting.

CUSTOM OPTIONS. You also have the option to choose what kind of seat you prefer (2-seat or bench seat), cushion type, wood finish, and nailhead if applicable.

Have I mentioned all custom furniture is made in the USA? You heard that right. Right now, due to COVID, special orders are taking roughly 14-16 weeks for production so if you’re wanting new furniture for the new year, now is the perfect time to start the selection process.
