Shelf Styling Essentials

Is your space feeling a little under the weather from the winter months? We’ve got you covered! What better way to spruce up your home, then to give your shelves a Spring refresh! Styling shelves can be a little intimidating, but with these simple steps and by adding some great elements, you can easily achieve gorgeous shelves every time!

STEP ONE: START WITH A BLANK CANVAS

Whenever I’m doing any type of spring cleaning or restyling to my space, this is a great time to remove everything off your shelves, give it a good cleaning and rock out to some of your fav jams in the meantime! No one’s judging…unless you have fur babies like I do.

STEP TWO: GATHER YOUR LIKE COLORED ITEMS

When you’re clearing off your shelves, this is a perfect time to group your like colored items together. Find any similarities in the colors and textures. This will help when you’re ready to start restyling, I promise! To creative a cohesive color pallet, it’s best to stick to using 2 or 3 colors. Below you will notice I stuck to white, natural wood and really used to green shelf to compliment these colors.

STEP THREE: START PLACING YOUR BIG ITEMS FIRST

Add height. You want your shelves to be balanced! You can use frames or artwork. Books are great for this too— and you can easily stack them if you need more dimension. Our go-to items that you can find in our shop are these awesome serving bowls + charcuterie boards! These are perfect for adding organic elements and texture with the natural wood. And, when you’re not using them to style, you can use them in your kitchen when you need to entertain.

We also have amazing ceramic and/or glass vases that would work as a great base to your shelf as well!

STEP FOUR: START FILLING IN THE BLANKS

Now you can build around your big items. Also be mindful you are spreading your like colored items throughout your shelves. You don’t want all your white or all your black pieces combined together. This is where you can also play around with creating dimension— having various sizes grouped together. Aim to keep your groupings to three or two items, or one big item.

You can find perfect little bud vases at our shop that make styling your shelves super easy, and can be used in any room of your home.

STEP FIVE: ADD SOME LIFE!

Whether you want some pops of greenery or need more color, adding plants, flowers or even simple twigs to your vases is a perfect way to showcase your personality and taste! Dried eucalyptus is our FAVORITE! And so versatile. We basically keep any dried flower or twig that can survive without H2O and reuse for styling any vases we want to bring to life! And if you don’t have enough natural light in your given space, faux is a great option as well!

February might be the shortest month of the year, but it is also known for being one of the most popular holiday’s — Valentines Day! Although many believe Valentines Day is just a hallmark holiday (like my hubby would say) or created by the candy companies for profit, there is actually historical significance tied to this day.

No matter how you may or may not celebration this day, it’s a great month to be reminded of how much love + happiness you are surrounded by— whether it be your significant other, your girlfriend’s or your family.

We thought it would be fun to share with you some of our February favorites that we not only love but to us resemble something unique, fun + beautiful, that you can add to any space in your home.

What we love about Fall

Time to get cozy and gear up for this fall season. It is finally here and we aren’t mad about it!! Give me all the crisp mornings, cozy sweaters, and pumpkins please! We are SO excited to be in the heart of historic Placerville and just miles away from Apple Hill. If you haven’t been in our shop yet, you gotta come see all of our fall decor and one of a kind pieces.

Not only are we diggin’ the cooler weather, but we are obsessed with the fall vibes we have in shop right now. Who else loves a good home refresh?

Spring is the time of year when the sun shines a little more, birds are chirping, and you take care of that much needed refresh for the home. We did just that in the shop! And we have to share all our spring/ summer favorite items in the shop. It’s important to move from the dreary dark tones and experiment with fun pops of colors and textures.

Anyone else wanting a little update for their home? We got you covered.

It’s important to move from the dreary dark tones and experiment with fun pops of colors and textures. One of the ways we love to update and style a bedroom or seating area is with pillows. We recently received a large shipment of indigo dyed pillows and pillows made from vintage fabric that are sure to bring character and charm to any space.

We’ll always love our African Mud Cloth pillows because they provide a great option for layering patterns. We have so many styles in store right now that would look beautiful placed on a sofa in the living room or a chair in the bedroom.

Another great home accessory we love to style a space with are baskets. From giant natural textured baskets with leather handles to small belly baskets with tassel detailing. The great thing about baskets is that they bring a very relaxed California style to the home. The natural fibers are warm and invite the outdoor texture in. Other than the obvious aesthetics that are created with the natural look of baskets, they also make for great storage. Extra pillows or throws can easily be tossed in a basket and styled aside a sofa or chair.

Last but not least, our favorite, the bar-cart. Yes, we know that the beloved bar-cart is sure to make an appearance in the summer months but the sunshine calls for a nice cocktail or two. We love the chic put together feel that a bar-cart brings to the home. Not to mention, it’s so darn fun to piece together. We have such cool items to pop into your cart at home. Glass decanters bring an elegant minimalist style, while the handmade wooden muddlers make for a great conversational piece. And let’s face it, whatever it takes to muddle that lime into your mojito is all that matters!

And of course, we can’t forget all the brass accessories your bar-cart needs and will love. We have super cool shakers, flasks, coasters and so much more in the shop to check out. Come by and have fun picking out all the spring accessories for entertaining this season.

Our Grand Opening!

Our doors are officially open!

After weeks of hard work, we had to throw a party and share all of our favorite home goods and furniture with you!

We had such an amazing grand opening and if you weren’t able to pop in

- don’t worry, we’ll give you the run down here!

As our team began tearing down the paper that had covered our windows for weeks of construction, we saw quite a crowd of on-lookers full of anticipation for our doors to open. The buzz about “the new shop in town” clearly had spread.

Our store owner and interior designer Molly Carter and her husband Ben spoke about how honored they were to both have businesses on historical Main Street as they performed the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Champagne was served as customers enjoyed sushi and charcuterie. The energy was clearly felt with families laughing and locals running into familiar friends.

The shop is an evolving selection of furniture, home decor, rugs, and lighting hand selected by Molly. When you walk through our doors, you are welcomed by the fun colors and patterns represented in the wallpapers, warm wood accents in the furniture, home goods, and hundreds of rug and upholstery textiles.

We wanted to bring the design experience to our retail customers as well as give clients a chance to touch and feel a variety of textures and finishes in person. Over 800 fabrics are displayed for you to customize your very own upholstery furniture piece. There’s also a beautiful variety of rug swatches ranging from hand-knotted wool, natural jute, and shag. The shop also offers home goods that make for an amazing gift including baskets, charcuterie and cheese boards, and other kitchen accessories.

We’re so happy with all the positive feedback and enthusiasm everyone has shown!
